  • Summary: Still Shining Bright Over a Decade Later!
  • Comment: Nintendo did us all a great service by going back to the top view action RPG formula they used in the first Zelda and not inflicting us with an Actraiser-esque side scroller like Zelda 2 (which was good, this was just superior).

This is up there among the great Action RPGs of all time. The pace is fast and you don't have to grind for levels or level up your magic like Secret of Mana or Evermore. The only annoyance is the water (ice) temple in the world of Darkness. Kind of reminds me of the water temple in The Ocarina of Time... tedious.

This was an early SNES game but was so well made that very few SNES games could compare with the graphics and gameplay of this gem.

  • Summary: A classic
  • Comment: This is the classic Zelda game, the one that enshrined the franchise in video game history. This game is still fun after almost 20 years - and it's now available on Wii. Great music, beautiful worlds, fun and challenging levels. Unique amongst video games at the time (or even today), it has a rich plot, including a dramatic opening level. The switch between the Light and Dark worlds works great. At some points the game gets ridiculously difficult, but usually it is pretty manageable. Just make sure to buy enough potions to increase your health!

  • Comment: this is a great game if you like the classic and the games last a lot longer than the old nes games did. the only downfall is that you can only play them on a smaller screen. other than that this is a great buy

  • Summary: Amazing!!!
  • Comment: This game (A Link to the Past) is the best GBA game I have ever played in my entire life. At first it was confusing, but once I understood the controls and the puzzle elements I was having so much fun. The graphics aren't the greatest, but graphics are not as important as fun. The storyline was interesting. I thought I had finished the game and then realized that I was just a third of the way done with it! Collecting pieces of heart and all the little extra things (such as getting Link's sword tempered or getting the upgraded boomerang) made this game have great replay value.
The only negative things are the graphics and trekking back and forth across the map to get some badly needed health potion or catch some fairies. The storyline was a little tedious, but it was easy to skip past it.
Overall an amazing, wonderful game that you should buy (especially at this price!)

  • Summary: Classic Zelda game
  • Comment: Even without being part of the Zelda series, this game is a lot of fun. If you've played 'Link's Awakening' on the Gameboy, you will see that this game is very reminiscent of that one. You gain one special item in each successive Palace - something that has not changed as far as I know, fight bosses, and navigate your way through progressively more difficult dungeons/lairs. The nice thing is that this game provides a lot of backdrop compared to older installments of Zelda, and the graphics were really nice for that time, and still are today.

There are a couple of parts of this game that are frustrating, but overall this game is really solid, and I've enjoyed it. If you're a Zelda fan, definitely check it out.
